Earth's Structure and Caves

This week in science we studied about caves and also introduced Earth structure.
Here are common things Earth's has:
  • Sphere (slightly oval)
  • Has natural resources: minerals, oil, life trees, cotton plants, water, coal
  • Most of its surface is water
  • Full of life and nature
  • Air (Oxygen)
  • Temperature - Climate
  • Water= rivers, lakes, oceans, aquifers, streams, deltas, gulfs, beaches, seas
  • Land= valleys, mountains, hills, rain forest, urban jungles (cities), jungles
In our class we also watched 2 Bill Nye videos: Earth's crust and Caves.
Earth's crust:
  • Core - Solid iron - 1,500 F^
  • Outer core - magma
  • Mantel - magma - 1,200 F^
  • Crust - thin layer where we live on -  mostly cool
Caves Properties:
  • Stalagmites -  bottom
  • Stalactites - top
  • Can be made by glaciers (very cold) or lava (when dried it becomes a cave)
  • The temperature in caves doesn' t change
  • Caves can be found 250 meter under the surface
I want to learn more about the different types of caves and the inside of them.
These different videos helped me understand and have an introduction to rocks.

  1. Good layout of this post. Have you ever been in a cave before? We will definitely learn more about caves and rocks.
