- SOLID
- NATURALLY OCCURRING
- INORGANIC
- FIXED COMPOSITION
- CRYSTAL FORM
Here are some examples telling you what solids are minerals or not.
- Quartz is a mineral because it has the S.N.I.F.C. properties
- Wood is not because it was once living
- Pearls are not a minerals because it is made by oysters, which is a living material
- Topaz is a mineral because it follows the S.N.I.F.C.
- Gold is a mineral because it has all the properties of the S.N.I.F.C rule.
