Earth's Inner Secrets

Hey everyone, today my reflection is about Earth’s Inner Secrets … Talking about; mining, minerals’ properties, earth’s structure, rock cycle, rock types and volcanoes. 

Mining: there are different types of mining: underground mining, surface mining. One way that miners mine underground is long-wall mining; they use a machine called the continuous miner, it slices up layers of from the wall. A way for surface mining is strip mining; the minerals/ores are found one layer under the dirt under us.

Minerals Properties: For a mineral to be called a mineral it needs to have the SNIFC properties.

·         S – olid

·         N – aturally Occurring

·         I – norganic Process

·         F – ixed Composition

·         C – rystalline Structure

Earth’s Structure: Earth’s has different layers:

·         Crust

·         Upper mantle

·         Lower mantle

·         Outer core

·         Inner core

Rock cycle:

Rock Types: There are three rock types: sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic. Sedimentary it’s formed when sediments compact together. Igneous rock is made when magma or lava cools down. If sedimentary or igneous rocks are put under heat and pressure then they become metamorphic rocks.

Volcanoes: There are many different types of volcanoes.
